Doctors and other health and social care professionals across Scotland are invited to register for the Bereavement Education Conference 2026: From the Shadows – Shedding Light on Bereavement at the Margins, a free, one-day virtual event hosted by Public Services Delivery Scotland.

This year’s conference builds on the success of the 2025 event, which saw over 1,300 people register. Join us to explore a wide range of contemporary topics with relevance to day-to-day practice including:

• Bereavement following alcohol and substance use
• Hidden losses associated with Motor Neuron Disease
• Neurodivergent grief and how we can develop more neuroinclusive support
• The emergence of AI and grief technologies, including so-called "grief bots"
• The meaning of digital goodbyes in the context of COVID-19
• The experiences of racially minoritised communities around death, grief and its aftermath
• The bereavement experiences and support needs of older adults

Whether you are new to thinking about bereavement or are looking to deepen your understanding of contemporary issues in grief and loss, this conference promises to challenge assumptions, broaden perspectives and inspire conversations that can improve care across Scotland. The day will conclude with a powerful conversation with Jason Watkins, actor, and Clara Francis, actor and businesswoman. Following the death of their young daughter Maude, Jason and Clara have become passionate advocates for sepsis awareness. Their reflections on child bereavement, grief and advocacy are sure to provide a moving, thought-provoking and memorable close to the conference.
