What can you expect on a LAS placement?
What is Long Arm Supervision (LAS)?
On a Long Arm Supervision (LAS) placement, you will be supported by a Practice Educator (PE) who is not physically present with you at all times. Supervision may be provided in person or remotely, with regular check-ins, feedback, and guidance – it is up to you to demonstrate your learning, knowledge and skills – linking it back to your profession and learning outcomes.
You will be expected to take a more independent and proactive role in your learning, while still being supported through scheduled virtual meetings, reflective discussions, onsite support and feedback sessions. Your daily activities may be coordinated by on-site staff or other professionals, but your PE remains responsible for your overall learning and assessment.
