Right Touch Assurance Assessment for Healthcare Science
In Healthcare Science in Scotland: Defining Our Strategic Approach and Healthcare Science in Scotland: Redefining Our Workforce, the Scottish Government set out its intention to ensure the expertise of the Healthcare Science NHS workforce is fully utilised to meet the evolving needs of the population. To support that work, the PSA has been asked to consider whether current regulatory and employer controls are sufficient to manage any risk of harm arising from these roles.
The Scottish Government are eager that the views of the workforce are considered as part of this work and the PSA are beginning to engage with a range of stakeholders who could have evidence that would help guide the assessment.
Information about the PSA, the project, and how to get involved can be found on the PSA website.
The PSA are asking those who are interested to complete the Data questionnaire and submit by midnight on Sunday 9 August.
We welcome this important piece of work and recognise the opportunity it provides to strengthen the visibility and contribution of the Healthcare Science workforce across Scotland.
We would encourage colleagues across Healthcare Science to engage with the PSA Right Touch Assurance Assessment, either by contributing evidence locally through their Board or service area, or by sharing views and expertise through their relevant professional body. Workforce insight will be essential in helping to ensure the assessment reflects the breadth, complexity and value of Healthcare Science roles and supports the continued development of a sustainable, skilled and appropriately assured workforce for Scotland.
