Setting the scene
Setting the scene
Firstly, let's remind ourselves of the key tips and actions from Considering what is reasonable and facilitating disclosure.
Key tips and actions:
Identify areas of concern, gather evidence. |
Base your judgement on the student's educational institution documentation. |
Communicate as soon as possible with the appropriate tutor at the student's education institution. |
Ensure you share concerns with the student in a timely manner. |
Share concerns with appropriate practice colleagues, they will be able to support you and the student if they are aware of the circumstances. Ensure you do this in confidence. |
Once you have made an evidence-informed decision that you are working with a learner who is underperforming and you have shared your evaluation with all relevant stakeholders (including the student and the education institution), the next important step is to devise an Action Plan. This needs to be devised with the student, including the educational institution tutor as appropriate (Duffy 2013).
