Practice Support Manual
In the Autumn 2025 Clinical Effectiveness newsletter, we related that the UK Resuscitation Council (UKRC) were updating their guidelines. The resuscitation guidelines were published towards the end of last year. The guidelines have been reviewed and no changes have been made to the PSM content.
In the Autumn newsletter we also referred to the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (DUAA) that came into law on 19 June 2025. The DUAA changes data protection laws and those changes are being phased in between June 2025 – June 2026. Changes that have been made in the PSM so far:
Recognised legitimate interests
- Introduction of a new lawful basis for processing personal information.
- Organisations are permitted to ‘stop the clock’ on the response deadline to seek further clarification from the requester.
- Searching for requested information should be ‘reasonable and proportionate’.
Data Protection by design and default
- Organisations should implement processes to limit the collection and retention of personal data for specific purposes e.g. only collecting relevant social history on medical history forms.
Details on further upcoming changes and how these may affect your practice are available via the Information Commissioner's Office.
