Remote & Rural Placement opportunities

Why remote & rural placements matter
The FTY will support workforce development across Scotland, with the two‑placement model giving students the chance to train in a range of settings, including remote and rural communities.
This will help students prepare for modern practice by helping them understand:
-
- different service models and demographics
-
- the role of community optometry within various local healthcare systems
-
- the professional opportunities available beyond major urban centres
By highlighting these settings, we aim to ensure students see the full range of experiences available within the profession.
