TRiaDS Practitioner and Patient interviews
To support the development and future implementation of the SDCEP Prevention and Treatment of Periodontal Diseases in Primary Care guidance update, interviews have been conducted with dental practitioners. The purpose of these interviews was to collect the views of dental practitioners about aspects of periodontal care, including conducting oral hygiene instruction and risk assessments for periodontal diseases, as well as to obtain additional feedback on the consultation draft of the guidance update. The interim results were presented to the Guidance Development Group in September.
In addition to the interviews with dental practitioners, a focus group with members of the University of Dundee’s Dental Public and Patient Involvement group has been scheduled for mid-October. This group comprises members of the public, and those who have volunteered to participate in the focus group will be asked to give their feedback on a patient information leaflet about gum disease that has been produced to accompany the guidance update.
