International Bereavement Education Annual Conference
International Bereavement Education Annual Conference
The organising team is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the fifth NES Bereavement Education Annual Conference, to be held on Tuesday 3rd December 2024: ‘Bereavement in the modern world: Kindness in the chaos’.
All information on the free, one-day virtual event for health and social care staff can be found on the NES Events website.
Across plenary and parallel sessions, a broad range of topics will be covered including:
- The truth about suicide, the impact on staff and what helps
- Bereavement following a sudden cardiac death
- Responding to the death of a colleague
- The use of animation to engage audiences with after-death practices
- Using simulation training to improve care for bereaved families following the death of a child
- The language of grief: how metaphors can help us to understand and support the grieving process
- Development of a bereavement toolkit for care home staff
- The ripple effect of good self-care and confidence in holding difficult conversations when supporting bereavement and grief
- Calm in the chaos: harnessing the power of self-compassion
The window to submit abstracts for an e-poster exhibition closes on Monday 14th October. This provides an opportunity to showcase bereavement-related work happening across Scotland and beyond.
The 2023 conference attracted interest from over 1,300 delegates. One speaker commented:
“I'm convinced the warmth, honesty and engagement of the whole conference community greatly encouraged me to seek out and engage more with more colleagues across healthcare… there's no way to really capture the impact of compassionate bereavement care and upon all the families delegates will go on to support - immeasurable!”
It is hoped that the upcoming 2024 event will also be of relevance and interest to many working across health and social care.
