Health Literacy Month

health literacy month

October is Health Literacy month

A person’s health literacy affects their ability to gain access to, understand and use information to make choices about their own health and care.

To raise awareness of health literacy and the techniques that can be used to support health communication, NHS Scotland library and knowledge services are planning a range of activities.

Look out for our health literacy month calendar – we’ll be highlighting a different resource each Monday to Thursday throughout October. From techniques to help you communicate, to easy read guides for patients, and eLearning to improve your knowledge, follow us to find out more: NESKnowledge

Keep an eye on social media to test what you have learned with the health literacy challenge quiz launched the last week in October.

You can also join us for two bitesize webinars:

Introduction to health literacy - Tuesday 8th October 11:30am-12:15 (including 15 minutes for questions)

Trusted health information - Tuesday 22nd October 11:30am-12:15pm (including 15 minutes for questions)
