Your Med Future (YMF)

Overview 

Your Med Future (YMF) is a dynamic new microsite designed to ignite the dreams of aspiring medical students. Launched in May, this site serves as a comprehensive and empowering resource for applicants and key career influencers, offering invaluable information and guidance on navigating the medical school application process in Scotland.  

Purpose 

YMF provides applicants with the information and encouragement they need to build their confidence in applying to one of the five medical schools in Scotland.  The site is a key starting point for prospective medical students on their application journey, helping them to: 

• understand the application and admissions process
• explore study options and how to make the most of medical school open days
• plan their application, including tips on personal statements, aptitude tests and interviews
• stay on track with key application deadlines and top tips

The supporting resources will enable parents, carers, teachers, careers advisers, outreach deliverers, medical colleagues and other relevant professionals to support applicants in their journey and future career ambitions within NHS Scotland.  

Meet the Team  

Although developed by the Enhancing Medical Attraction (EMA) team within NHS Education for Scotland, this project was a collaborative partnership with the NES Digital Content Lead (DCL).  

EMA collectively thank colleagues across NHS Scotland, the Medical Schools Council, and a range of other key stakeholders across the country who supported the finalisation of content. 

Looking Ahead 

The EMA team wish to continue to collaborate with partners to further develop the site to include insider insights from doctors, medical educators, students, site users and more. 

The aim is to make prospective applicants and their key influencers aware of YMF and welcome support from partners to help reach as many individuals in Scotland as possible.
