Internal Medicine Training (IMT) Quality Improvement Conference
On Wednesday, 19 November, Internal Medicine Trainees from across Scotland convened for a Quality Improvement Conference, hosted virtually on Teams. The event provided a platform for trainees to showcase their ongoing quality improvement projects, share best practices, and foster collaboration. 32 abstracts were submitted from across the country of which 11 were selected for oral presentations and the remainder presented as posters.
Each project highlighted innovative approaches to tackling real-world clinical challenges within Scottish hospitals.
Trainees demonstrated a keen commitment to improving patient care, focusing on initiatives such as reducing medication errors, streamlining discharge processes and enhancing communication within multidisciplinary teams.
Guest speaker Professor Chris Isles (Dumfries) gave an inspirational talk on getting QI and other projects published as a trainee.
The virtual format facilitated wide participation, with over 100 delegates attending from across the country. Overall, the conference reflected a shared dedication to continuous improvement and professional development, leaving attendees inspired to implement positive change in their own practice.
