Across the UK, optometry education is evolving. In Scotland, we’re aligning our approach with the needs of modern practice built around a clear ambition:
“To enable students to demonstrate the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected of safe, competent, GOC-registered independent prescribing optometrists.”
In practice, this means:
- more experience in real clinical settings
- stronger links between university learning and day-to-day practice
- graduates who are ready to contribute from day one
