Foreword

Welcome to the 4^th Medical ACT Annual Report, which provides an overview of the performance management and distribution of Medical ACT funding during the period April 2023 - August 2024, which covers both 2023-24 Financial and Academic Years.

Once again this was a busy period for the Medical ACT team as work evolved to review and more clearly define key operational processes involving Medical ACT. We were pleased to have ongoing input and engagement during this time from a wide variety of stakeholders whilst we progressed this important task.

Our budget continued to grow as we received additional funding from Scottish Government associated with continued expansion in medical student places. However, this also brought challenges, particularly for NHS Boards to ensure that the quality of medical education delivery could be maintained.  Supporting NHS Boards develop the necessary infrastructure including workforce and equipment to underpin learning, as well as provision of teaching and student placement accommodation, will remain important areas of our work going forwards.
