Dental Workforce Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Survey

Thank you to all who took part in the recent TEL survey.  We received responses from across all health boards and roles.

Many of you expressed the view that the use of webinars and online learning via TURAS or Portal TV had given you the opportunity to explore topics you may otherwise not have attended, as well as having the added benefit of eliminating travel time and costs, and reducing your carbon footprint.

The survey indicated that most of the online learning was carried out at home rather than in the workplace, and that many participants preferred evening learning.  There were still a significant number who wished to access the learning in working hours however, so we will continue to offer a range of times when we provide our live webinars to members of the dental team.

It was good news to learn that over the last few years participants have become much more proficient in using the technology we use to deliver our events, but we want to remind you that if you do have difficulty during a webinar we have IT support on hand to help.

The CPD team did note that there were less than 50% of respondents aware of or accessing Portal TV, and we would like to take this opportunity to make you aware of this great resource, where you can access recordings of the live webinars for usually up to a year after they are delivered.  Click on NHS Education for Scotland Portal  and look for Portal TV under iBooklet.

Of course, as many of you said, there is still a need for face-to-face courses both in delivering practical subjects and for peer interaction, so NES Dental CPD will be continuing to provide education in multiple ways so that you are able to choose the learning that best suits your needs.  We will also be exploring the increased use of breakout rooms on our smaller online courses.

The CPD team were really encouraged that so many of you have found TEL a positive experience and we look forward to continuing to deliver CPD to you in this way in the future.
