Borders Study Day

NES, along with NHS Borders, have worked together to create a fantastic opportunity for the whole dental team to come together for what promises to be a great day of learning and interaction with your peers.

The programme includes:

“Digital Dentistry The Way Forward” presented by Dr Eddie Bateman BDS MJDF RCS Eng P. Dip (Primary Dental Care Orthodontics) P.Dip (Quality Improvement) who will also be available during morning coffee to demonstrate his own scanning equipment and take questions – ideal if you are considering a system or have recently acquired one and would like some advice from a tried and tested user.

“Potentially Malignant Lesions” presented by Dr Elizabeth Todd who will discuss the different types of oral, potentially malignant disorders, and explore the rationale behind monitoring regimes and indications for onwards referral.  She will also develop skills to accurately describe lesions, both for documentation and onwards referral.

"Strategic Plan: Update and Engagement" presented by Morag Muir who will describe development of the NHS Borders’ strategic plan for oral health and dental services, and reflect on how this plan can be shaped to best support dentistry and oral health in the area.

The afternoon session will be an interactive session presented by Illona McLayBuilding the Right Culture in a Team to Reduce Stress and Improve Communication” who will discuss the key influencers in changing the culture in the workplace, demonstrate a culture of trust and engagement through good communication, and explore the different personalities in the workplace to enable us to build our resilience to stress.
