Antibiotic prophylaxis against infective endocarditis

In 2018, the Scottish Dental Clinical Effectiveness Programme (SDCEP) published implementation advice on Antibiotic Prophylaxis Against Infective Endocarditis to support the application of dentally-relevant recommendations in the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) clinical guideline 64 (CG64) on Prophylaxis against infective endocarditis.
SDCEP is currently reviewing the implementation advice.
Various aspects are under consideration including the classification of patients who require special consideration, relevant dental procedures and the recommended drug regimens for antibiotic prophylaxis.
In the interim, the current implementation advice is still applicable.
