Update to the Drug Prescribing For Dentistry guidance

SDCEP has initiated an update to its Drug Prescribing For Dentistry guidance.

The third edition of the guidance, currently presented via the Dental Prescribing website, was published in 2016 and while there have been regular updates to the prescribing information to reflect changes to the BNF and BNFC, the main text has not changed significantly since publication.

An advisory group has been convened, and the intention is to update the guidance on a section-by-section basis. The first section under review is Bacterial Infections and once the changes to this section have been approved, the relevant pages of the website will be updated. This will be repeated for each section in the guidance over the next 12 months.

N.B. The Dental Prescribing website has recently been updated in line with BNF 90 and BNFC 2025-26.
