SDCEP Guidance update

The Prevention and Treatment of Periodontal Diseases in Primary Care  guidance was first published in 2014 and is currently being updated.  We have convened a new Guidance Development Group for the update, which has met several times during 2022. The Group has confirmed the scope of the update and is considering new evidence and information relevant to the range of clinical questions that the guidance addresses. Key sources for the guidance update are the British Society for Periodontology S3 treatment guideline and the 4th edition of the Delivering Better Oral Health guideline.  Consultation on a draft of the second edition of the SDCEP guidance is expected in mid-2023.  

The Dental Prescribing smartphone app was launched in 2012 and has proved to be very popular with users. To improve the digital delivery of dental prescribing information, we plan to withdraw the app this year and are replacing it with a new website, which has been developed with NES digital. The new website will have similar content and functionality to the app with the advantage that it can be viewed on any mobile device or desktop computer. Look out for further communications about this change in the next few weeks.
