How is Preceptorship Recorded

Preceptorship meetings

It is essential that Preceptorship meetings are conducted with a clear structure, and that discussions and outcomes are accurately documented. This allows both the preceptor and the preceptee to track progress, identify areas of development and opportunity, and ensure wellbeing and support are maintained throughout.

The following are suggested documentation that could be used to structure and document the preceptorship period:

Welcome to your preceptorship

Preceptee profile and Planning your preceptorship are tools to be completed by the preceptee at the start of the preceptorship period and discussed with the preceptor

AHP preceptorship agreement

Outlines roles and responsibilities and prompts discussion about the practice elements of the relationship, including scheduling, recording, confidentiality, and escalation.
