Concluding Preceptorship

As the period of preceptorship comes to an end, preceptees should reflect on their experience and achievements that have been made. The reflective and professional skills acquired during this time will stand the preceptee in good stead when engaging in CPD and life-long learning throughout their careers.

During the final sign off meeting it will be helpful to discuss how the preceptee will maintain these skills and behaviours, and how they will move forward to identify further personal development opportunities and avenues for growth.

The information and frameworks used during the Preceptorship period, including but not limited to Supervision, the NMAHP Development Framework, and Appraisal, will continue to be applied throughout the career. These resources will continue to support and identify learning needs and opportunities.
