What?
This is an escalation process described across three levels. The process includes actions to take if there is risk of cancellation for an agreed AHP PrBL experience (placement).
Each level
- starts with a specific trigger, which may indicate that there is a risk of cancellation of the placement.
- describes actions and communication needed to manage the risk at each level.
- provides information on escalation through each level.
- shares example scenarios.
Why?
The guide aims
- to manage through the use of a consistent process, the unavoidable risk of placement cancellation.
- to support organisations not to cancel an agreed PrBL experience (placement).
- to have flexibility within the process, which allows different organisations to tailor the guidance to their specific structures, terms and roles.
- to uphold and support the principles of apportionment within the AHP PrBL partnership agreements between NHS Health boards and HEIs.
- to engage whole teams and organisations to support PrBL (placement) delivery through shared responsibility.
- to develop knowledge and understanding about why risks to agreed PrBL experiences (placements) occur.
This is underpinned by the AHP Principles of Practice Based Learning the AHP PrBl Consensus statements and the Scottish Government AHP Education and workforce review
