The Professional Development Award (PDA) in Technology Enabled Care (TEC)

What is the PDA in TEC?

This is a programme of work providing frontline health, social care, social work, and housing staff across sectors, the opportunity to gain essential digital skills and achieve a formal qualification in one of the most significant areas of health and social care practice in modern times. It also supports Scotland’s ambitions for a well-trained and qualified workforce, aspiring people to progress their careers further as well as supporting the development of future digital leaders.

Alumni insights

From April 2021 NHS Education for Scotland, in partnership with the Scottish Government, have funded 186 staff from across the sector to undertake the PDA in TEC. Information gathered from past participants on the programme provided evidence that the award:

  • Uplifts knowledge and skills development.
  • Provides a positive impact for citizens.
  • Helps to embed technology into everyday support planning.
  • Increases confidence and competence.
